Well, I guess I finally decided what I want to be when I grow up. (when being the key word) At age 33, I’ve decided to go back to school and become an EMT, as working just for a paycheck isn’t fun anymore.
It was the day of my high school class reunion (I didn’t go) that the realization hit – I have done nothing with my life. Sure, graduated from college with big dreams – and all I have to show for it is student loan payment every month. So after throwing myself a pity party, I came to the conclusion it wasn’t too late. I contacted my local Red Cross to see about volunteering – and to make a long story short – decided to change careers.
And now for the hard part – actually doing it. So far haven’t made a lot of progress, which is frustrating me. I did get my high school transcript today at lunch. It was so weird walking into the building – it hadn’t changed in 15 years. The hallways were the same pukey peach. It was a rather simple process getting the transcript – I gave my name and year graduated – and 5 minutes later I was on my way. Acquiring my college transcript is a different story. Dealing with the registrar’s office in not unlike dealing with the DMV. I have also filled out the online app to the community college, and today after work I’ll go pick up a study guide (it’s been awhile) for the assessment test that is mandatory, and sign up to take it. Hopefully I’ll get everything set and registered for classes by Aug. 22nd.
